This month we would like to bring to your attention the HACKATHON 2021 challenge aimed at educational centres organised by the company Happy Code Spain, which is of interest on two counts. On the one hand, it proposes an activity that promotes new creative and entrepreneurial talents via the development of digital solutions in response to a given challenge, and, on the other, the main theme of this year’s challenge or project is financial education, which is why we would encourage you to take part with your students.
To take part in this competition, students must register in pairs and each fill out their individual personal details.
The registration link is https://www.happycode.com.es/hackathon-internacional-interese/participe/
Bear in mind that, as minors, they will each need express consent from their respective legal representatives.
Each pair must register in one of these two categories: kids (between 7 and 10 years old) or teens (11-14 years old) according to the age of the oldest participant. The total amount of time required of the students in this challenge is estimated at around 4-5 hours.
The final entry date is 24 May 2021 at 23:59:59, 2 days before the start of the 2nd phase of the competition.
During the Hackathon, participants will be tasked with developing a solution to a challenge based on the subject of financial education, ensuring they fulfil these 3 stages:
- Discovery: studying the subject and understanding the challenge.
- Conceptualisation / Prototype: realising the Canvas model template.
- Pitch: recording a video presentation lasting a maximum of 2 minutes related to the solution.
The established timeframe for each of these 3 stages is as follows:
DISCOVERY: 22-26 May
CONCEPTUALISATION AND PROTOTYPE: 27 May-4 June
PITCH: 5-11 June
You can find out the details of each stage and the winners on the competition website.
The finalists from Spain will participate with the finalists from Brazil and Portugal in the international competition, in which a committee made up of 8 judges will assess the work of the winners from these 3 countries before picking a winner of the International Stage.
There will be prizes for the winners of both the National and International Stages and, above all else, your students will learn while having fun solving a challenge on the theme of financial education, something that will help them gain valuable knowledge for their future.
DON’T FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT DATES:
Start Date: 22 May
Final date for the delivery of the projects: 11 June
